Utility Pit Reinstatement Patch, Kincumber

An access chamber sitting in the road surface at Kincumber needed the asphalt reinstated around it once the cover had been reset to level. The square cut was opened up and the cover bedded on fresh base, cones out and the excavator bucket working at the edge of the shot. New mix went in around the frame and was worked down with a plate compactor until it sat flush with the road. The crew then ran a torch along the joint so the new edge bonded to the old surface. The last photo was taken with the patch just finished, steam still lifting off it as it cooled.
